<p><br /> Which canonically embedded curves are hyperplane sections of K3<br /> surfaces? In the first work, following conjectures of Wahl, Mukai and<br /> Voisin, we give a complete characterization of curves which are hyperplane<br /> sections of  K3 surfaces (or of limits of such). This involves proving<br /> two conjectures stated by Wahl in 1997.</p>
<p><br /> In the second work we we find an explicit  family of  curves, of any<br /> given genus, satisfying the Brill-Noether-Petri condition.</p>]]></content:encoded>

<p>È risaputo che il membro generale di C<sub>14</sub> sia razionale.</p>

<p>Mostreremo che ogni cubica in C<sub>14</sub> è razionale.</p>
<p>Nel fare questo presenteremo il conto di parametri che suggerirebbe C<sub>14</sub> = C  e in seguito la notevole (e sconosciuta?) dimostrazione geometrica di Fano che C<sub>14</sub> è invece un divisore.</p>

<p>Di passaggio considereremo anche le cubiche di C<sub>14</sub> contenenti un piano per dimostrare che il luogo Pfaffiano e il luogo delle cubiche contenenti uno scroll razionale normale di grado 4 liscio non sono aperti in C<sub>14</sub>.</p>]]></content:encoded>

<p class="gmail-m_-2643927368695744743MsoPlainText"><span><span><span>During  last ten years the author has been developing a discrete-velocity-type  numerical method to solve model kinetic equation with the E.M. Shakhov  collision integral for three-dimensional flows.  The method  combines a high-order TVD advection scheme  for arbitrary spatial  meshes, unstructured mesh in velocity space with adaptation for  high-speed flows and one-step LU-SGS implicit time evolution method.  These features allow applications to industrial-type problems with  complex geometries. This presentation is a review of  all recent developments of this numerical method for high-speed flows,  which have been carried out by the author alone or with the  collaborators from the Russian academy of Sciences. These  developments primarily concern various studies of the stationary  high-speed flows up to free-stream Mach number M=25 as well as  comparison of kinetic and direct simulation Monte-Carlo (DSMC)  solutions. Possible extension to diatomic gases will also be discussed.</span></span></span></p>

<p>Sunto. <br />Nel seminario illustrerò come in tutti gli spazi metrici di misura  sia possibile sviluppare un calcolo differenziale del prim’ordine. <br />Descriverò poi come nel spazi con curvatura di Ricci limitata dal  basso sia presente anche una struttura differenziale del secondo ordine: in particolare oggetti come l’Hessiano di una funzione, derivata covariante e curvatura di Ricci sono tutti ben definiti.</p>]]></content:encoded>

We will first show how a collaboration with G. Mancini allows to recast the Moser-Trudinger inequality and the existence of its extremals (originally due to L. Carleson and A. Chang) under a new light, based on sharp energy estimate. Building upon a recent subtle work of O. Druet and P-D. Thizy, in a work in progress with O. Druet, A. Malchiodi and P-D. Thizy, we use these estimates to compute the Leray-Schauder degree of the Moser-Trudinger equation (via a suitable use of the Poincaré-Hopf theorem), hence proving that for any bounded non-simply connected domain the Moser-Trudinger inequality admits critical points of arbitrarily high energy. In a work in progress with F. De Marchis, O. Druet, A. Malchiodi and P-D. Thizy, we expect to use a variational argument to treat the case of a closed surface.</p>]]></content:encoded>

<div>In the 80's Parisi proposed a solution for the Sherringhton-Kirkpatrick</div>
<div>model which required the introduction of completely new concepts and revealed a</div>
<div>rich mathematical structure. After the work of Guerra, Talagrand and Panchenko,</div>
<div>the so-called Parisi Theory has now a rigorous mathematical background.</div>
<div>In this talk we consider a multi-species version of the Sherringhton-Kirkpatrick mo-</div>
<div>del, where random couplings are independent but not identical distributed. We</div>
<div>introduce a multidimensional version of the Parisi Theory which, under some conve-</div>
<div>xity assumptions, gives a representation for the thermodynamic limit of the pressure.</div>
<div>We discuss the proof of the Guerra's upper bound and the Panchenko's strategy for</div>

<p>In this lecture we show by examples how a modulus of continuity appears in several problems from the theory of PDE's to describe the threshold in qualitative properties of solutions. Among other things we consider the Cauchy problem for the semilinear damped wave equation</p>

<p>where $h(s)=|s|^{1+ \frac2{n}}\mu(|s|)$. Here $n$ is the space dimension, $1+\frac{2}{n}$ is the Fujita exponent, and $\mu$ is a modulus of continuity. Our goal is to obtain sharp conditions on $\mu$ to obtain a threshold between global (in time) existence of small data solutions (stability of the zero solution) and blow-up behavior even of small data solutions.</p>

<p> </p>
<p><span>Viene proposto un modello matematico che schematizzi il comportamento di un tessuto muscolare scheletrico</span><span> </span>danneggiato  dalla sindrome della sarcopenia. Con il termine “sarcopenia” si fa  riferimento alla progressiva diminuzione della massa e dell’efficienza  muscolare. La perdita di massa e efficienza muscolare è un fattore  naturale correlato all’età, spesso causato dall’inattività fisica, da  un’alimentazione non equilibrata e da fattori ambientali e biologici. La  sarcopenia comporta diverse conseguenze negative come la disabilità  fisica e il peggioramento della qualità di vita. Nel modello proposto il  tessuto muscolare viene descritto come un materiale incomprimibile e  transversalmente isotropo iperelastico.  Il comportamente attivo del  materiale viene descritto nel modello tramite l'approccio "active  strain", mentre il danneggiamento dovuto all'invecchiamento viene  modellizzato attraverso due parametri che "indeboliscono" la performance  e la quantità di massa muscolare.</p>]]></content:encoded>
